Imagine having to face Cole and Zack Greinke in the same day.
The White Sox won’t have to imagine it on Tuesday with a doubleheader slated against the Rays with both All-Star pitchers on tap. It will be a long day in Chicago for fans watching the White Sox compete in back-to-back meetings against one of the best teams in baseball.
This is a great series for White Sox manager Rick Renteria to use in hopes of building experience and character within his young team. However, this is also a game his team has little hope of winning. The White Sox recently got shut out in two of the three games they played against the A’s. Now, they’ll be facing an even better defensive team in the Astros, who also boast a scarier pitching rotation.
Nova isn’t pitching good enough to bail his team out of this game. The only hope for the White Sox is the Astros running out of gas after the first game and completely failing to be productive on offense.
