Imagine being arguably the best team in baseball with a chance to clinch your division with a win over the second-worst team in the league. That’s exactly what’s at the core of the Dodgers’ meeting with the Orioles.
Buehler has been devastating on the mound, and he’ll be staring down one of the worst batting lineups in baseball. The Orioles are hitting a .246/.308/.411 slash line, and their inability to drive the ball consistently will put them in a bind against the Dodgers. Perhaps their only hope of being competitive is another stellar performance on the mound from Blach like he had against the Rays.
But then again, the Rays don’t boast anywhere near the same offensive firepower as the Dodgers.
Cody Bellinger and the Dodgers’ lineup will come out aggressive in an attempt to cement their playoff spot. Even if the Orioles play their best game of the season, it still won’t be enough to stave off the juggernaut. Keep the champagne on ice for Tuesday night.
